Thank you Mother Nature

So maybe the title of this entry sounds a little like Jimmy Fallon's weekly Friday night bit - but after yesterday's great fortune for my fourth annual golf tournament that raises money for the fight against Diabetes, I really am thanking her.
Let me start by saying in the four years I have been holding this event, I still haven't learned that as hard as my committee prepares the only thing we can't control is the weather. So here I was Sunday night on stage for a benefit at Cunnigham's Pub in Hudson (my favorite place in Quebec - see previous blog posts) watching the rain come down in buckets, no bales. After returning home and taking a short nap, here I was enjoying a much needed coffee at 5:30am - watching Sportscentre and finding out the dumb rule the PGA has stealing championships from their own, as if that didn't stress me out - here came the thunder and rain. So as I sipped my coffee standing in front of the window watching the downpour, occansionally glancing over at the bottle of Xanax - I thought well this will be a first, rain on my golf tournament day.
Arriving at the course, to my surprise everyone showed up and no rain was seen during the day except for a quick spit just as we started. A great sunny, windy, humid day was had by all on the links and I can honestly say - this was the best tourny we have had in our short history. The final tally isn't in but what I know for sure is that the right people attended and with the help of my committee, the good people on staff at Ile Perrot golf Club, all our sponsors, and all the participants we are bound to set records.
I hope you can all join next year for our best and biggest tournament to date - the FIFTH annual Joey Elias Charity Golf Classic.
Again to all those who came to play, helped with donations, sponsors and my committee and family I am truly humbled by your support and generosity. I am sure that we will attain our goal in the fight against Diabetes with you all on board. Our motto "Make Life Sweet!" will come true one day soon - because after witnessing Mother Nature help us out yesterday, I believe we have the right people on our side.
