Another Tour Around the Sun!

Along time ago, I remember sitting around with friends and doing the math - in 2009, I'll be 38 years old! That was usually followed by a few laughs, then a "Holy Shit, that's old!". Well here I am 38 years old, and thankfully unlike the Tragically Hip song, I am happy to say I have indeed kissed a girl. (if you don't know the song - download it asap "38 years old") As I look back on the past year, overall I can say it was a good one, would I go back and change a few things that I may have said or did - sure who wouldn't. But no regrets and move forward - and this year looks to be a good one.
I will be releasing my first DVD "DOUCHBAG!" tentative release date is Dec 26th. I am already booked to return to 2 comedy festivals - The Hubcap in Moncton, NB in February and Just For Laughs in Montreal in July. The radio show on CJAD will continue and hopefully get better, and maybe I will get more chances to spread my broadcasting wings even wider. I am not a big birthday person, or holidays for that matter - if I had my way birthdays would be spent watching a sporting event with loved ones. Holidays - I could do those alone, but with family and friends they are way more enjoyable. Here's the funny thing - at 38 I am already looking forward to 40! What did you say - Joey you really are crazy.
See when I turn 40 it will also mark the 20th year that I will be doing comedy - half my life, seems like only yesterday I was hanging out at Darwin's learning from DJ McCarthey, John Rogers, David Acer to name a few - still learn from them. But on April 8th 2012, if all goes according to plan, the exact 20th anniversary of my first performance I plan on recording my 2nd DVD in front a live audience. I've even thought of a possible name -"Joey Elias: CURMUDGEON".
On another note - George Carlin's Autobiography "LAST WORDS" is a must have and read for anyone that is a comedy fan. Brilliant.
