Can I stil Love My Habs?!

Where shall I begin? As many of you probably know I am a very big sports fan - golf, NFL and of course NHL. I grew up a die hard Canadiens fan - loved all the regular heroes Lafleur, Robinson, Dryden, Roy. I even liked the lesser known guys Herron, Odelein, Savage. And I must admit the goons, enforcers, fighters - whatever you choose to call them were always my favorites Nilan, Kordic, Corson. Whatever you think of fighting, a good fight will always get people out of their seat to cheer and yell. I like the chippy, lippy players too - they have a place in the game the players there to get under their opponent's skin and draw penalties. Some of these are my favorites too. Linesman, Acton, Clarke, Fleury. These guys are usually smaller than the rest but still if need be would drop the gloves and put money where their mouth is. Which brings me to my least favorite player of all time Max Lapierre - it pains me that he is a Hab. Coward, chicken shit - is all I can say. He chirps only when an official is between him and his target of "affection". Drop the gloves Max - or shut the F**K up and prove to everyone that you are NHL worthy. There was talk that he is a candidate to be the next captain of the Canadiens - really? Richard, Beliveau, Gainey, Koivu leaders - Lapierre WTF? You read it here first if he ever becomes the captain of this 100 year old franchise I say aloud "Go Bruins Go!"
Which brings me to my next point - I was lucky enough to attend the Leafs Habs game this past Saturday night. Montreal fans are passionate and their knowledge of the game can't be argued. Does that make them good fans - NO! I was nauseous a bit at the way the home fans behaved, yes do we hate Toronto sure, does give us the right to act as a collective bunch of assholes nope. To the idiot that laid his hands on me in the john, thinking I was a Leaf fan because I wasn't wearing Habs gear and spoke English - really? You are a better fan than me because you had a Habs t-shirt on, a freebie that you got for filling out a credit card application out - come check out my jersey collection, I win and I am a gentleman because I would never lay a hand on a "Leaf" fan - swine flu, it scares me.
I will also add that I enjoyed watching former Hab Mike Komisarek body check - cleanly I may add - Latendresse, Metropolit all the while getting booed by the fans and not once losing his cool or composure and directing a "finger" or other gesture towards the fans. He was classy in Montreal and is still classy in Toronto. Hope he bodychecks Lapierre to the moon the next time these teams play.
