I'm trying to see the positive!

Although the powers that be, and those who sign my pay checks may not want me to admit this - I do not listen to a lot of radio, even though I am on the airwaves five nights a week here in Montreal (also can be heard on line), one of the few shows I do tune into on a regular basis is future comedy star Dan Laxer on CJAD 800 weekdays from 2-4pm. In my opinion he is a fresh, different sound in the middle of the day, a nice break from all the stuff we take too seriously. Well, the other week he was interviewing an author by the name of William Knoedelseder. This man wrote a book entitled "I'M DYING UP HERE: HEARTBREAK AND HIGH TIMES IN STAND-UP COMEDY'S GOLDEN ERA". I went out later that day and bought it, and did not put it down until the 200+ pages were all read. Great, fascinating read, seriously if you are at all a comedy fan go out and read this book.
It mentions all the talented people that were in LA in the late 70s and early 80s. It made me think we have that many talented people right here in Montreal : DJ McCarthey, David Acer, Scott Faulconbridge, Heidi Foss, David Pryde, Steve Patterson and so many others. How about Canada Pete Zedlacher, Kate Davis, Alan Park, Irwin Barker, Winston Spear and the list goes on. So why aren't they household names - instead of arguing who gets our tax dollars on local or cable TV, why don't they spend that money developping quality Canadian programs with these people and keeping them in this country. But that's just my opinion - what do I know I'm on the radio at 11pm!
News on my DVD - if all goes well it will be available through this website in early December, just in time for the holidays. Also some merchandise namely T-shirts will also be available to buy, yup, official Joey Elias merchandise - hopefully you will all buy something and wear it and watch the dvd often.
That is it for now - time for me to go do virtual yoga on my Wii and get teased by some not real instructor. If you feel like you have too much self esteem, go buy one of these consoles and get yelled at by this virtual asshole telling you are heavy with no center of balance and it will drive the point home that you are completly unco-ordinated. I'm a palm tree!
