2nd Annual Joey Elias Charity Golf Classic
|
This is the second year that I host a charity golf tournament - this year the proceeds will be going to the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation specifically the Insulin Pump & Diabetes Clinic. Last year the temprature hit 44 Celsius with the humidex the day of the tournament, this year I was worried that we would be able to golf at all - see Sunday night the day before the tournament Hurricane Ike - or whatever was left of it blew through the area. Wind, rain, more wind - the ideal golf conditions (please read with heavy sarcasm) But on Monday the day of the tournament - after a brief drizzle, it turned out to be a great day - weather wise and for all the participants and volunteers.
We golfed, we ate, we drank, we ate and drank somemore. I think golf was secondary. Kudos to the folks at Le Diamant golf course who had it in great condition and ready to go. The golfers all 132 of them teed off hit the links and on the course had the options to - drink beer, have a martini or two courtesy of The FIRM. The could have a delicious hamburger made fresh on the spot thanks to Dilallo's Burger. They could have a fruit smoothie made by two young women courtesy of C3 Events, or have a Lilydale sausage BBQ'd by a few of our dedicated and pretty volunteers.
Dinner was tasty and the gala portion of the evening was hosted by CHOM's morning man Rob Kemp - outstanding job by him. All in all a great day was had by all for a great cause.
