Air Can't A-Da & NYC
|
So once again Air Canada has managed to screw up. This time it wasn't losing my luggage and sending it to Winnipeg when I am on a direct flight to Calgary, no it was a comedy of errors.
See there I was Friday early afternoon at the airport ready for a fun 2 nights in the Big Apple, when delay. Okay flying into Laguardia there usually is a delay of some kind, then it goes on. We board the plane sit there for an hour to be told due to weather the flight has been cancelled. Weather? You mean clear skies and warm? We are told we will be greeted by someone at the gate to help us maybe rebook on the next flight. What we are greeted by is an employee of the airline laughing telling us all flights are cancelled. 30 minutes later get the luggage, go to a hotel and finally fly out the next morning only to find out my hotel is not ready until after 3pm, it is now 10am, what to do?
Yankee stadium. Roger Clemens made his season debut and I was there with my friend AC, Bill and Stu (may have been Mr. Magoo - but great guy).
Sat and watched the Yankees win 9-3 in front of 40000+ faithfull fans, an amazing experience.
If ever in NYC go to St. Andrews resto/bar incredible food and service not to mention over 150 beer to choose from. The next morning off for a walk through Central Park, stopped and had a bite at Tavern on the Green - not that I usually care, but it is as beautiful as they say it is a must for all. Over to Strawberry Fields, then through a Puerto Rico Day Parade and finally back to the hotel then home.
I love Montreal, but NYC is a close second, would love to live there one day. Thanks ACE for making an incredible time even better.
also thanks to Adrian and that nice (exception to the norm) Air Canada employee that offered to take me and AC to her house to spend the night so we wouldn't miss our flight the next morning.
