The Just For Laughs Festival - Pt. I
|
In baseball if you go 1 for 3 at the plate that is considered by some to be a decent night, especially if that one hit is a homerun! In comedy 1 for 3, is reason to be concerned. I bring this up because I have performed my "gala" set 3 times in preperation for Wednesday night's big show, and have only felt really good about it once. Not even a homerun, more of a ground rule double, but with men in scoring position. It's been stressful, but still I'm having fun. After the past two years of hosting CBC's now defunct "All Access Pass" I felt removed from the fest because I wasn't performing, this year I'm right into it. Last night at the Comedyworks, I was on "The Best of the Fest". Very hot room, temperature wise that is, so maybe that took a little something away from the audience's response as they were stuck together and couldn't applaud or breathe properly. What a great line-up: Shawn Majumder, Craig Shoemaker, Ed Byrne, Steve Patterson, just to name a few - I felt honored just to be on the same show as these people. Tonight another test run for the big show - "Bubbling with Laughter" at Club Soda at 9:30pm. Let's hope I up my average to .500 and hit another good shot making me 2 for 4 - and maybe I'll hit this one out of the park.
