I know...It's been a while!

I apologize for not posting here in a while, but as some of you may know I have been blogging on The Montreal Gazette website about my attempt to quit smoking. That's right - I am trying to give up the habit. People ask me why I am doing it? Is it pressure from family and friends, is it a money issue, or is it a health issue? Honestly, it is a little of all of these. My family has wanted me to quit for years. I have friends that have smoked more than me in the past and have quit. Some are now those militant non-smokers, I promise I will not turn into one of these people. Money, yeah it would be nice to save a little and spend it on something that isn't killing me slowly - unless of course I take the money I save and blow it all on a bungee jumping excursion - Bonzai!!!! But really what got me to try and quit was a visit to my doctor about 18 months ago. He told me I was morbidly obese. Honestly, I wasn't shocked by the diagnosis, but did he have to add the word morbidly? I know what obese means, I know it isn't a positive thing. I know this because I have never seen a card at any Hallmark store stating "Way to go you're now obese!" Really adding that extra word hurt a little. That is like telling someone; "You're not ugly, you're f***'in ugly!" No need for the extra adjective. That's it for now, until next time (it won't be as long I promise), choose your words wisely,
